Transfer in CHF to Switzerland - how long does it take and what costs should you expect?

Transfers in francs to Switzerland are made via the SWIFT network and usually arrive within 1-3 business days (the time of the order and bank calendars influence it). The cost depends on the selected cost option (SHA/OUR) and the fees of intermediary banks and the recipient's bank. In the GLOBALtransfer Panel you will see the path and approximate deadlines before confirmation, and in the accelerated mode the time may be shorter.

SHA or OUR when transferring in francs - which option should you choose?

For CHF transfers to Switzerland, OUR is usually better because it guarantees that the recipient will receive the full amount without any intermediary deductions. If you're sending CHF within EOP and don't care about the "full amount down to the centime", you can consider SHA - any deductions are usually small, but cannot be ruled out in advance. When paying with an invoice, when the amount must match, we recommend OUR.

What data is needed for a transfer in CHF?

To place an order, you need the recipient's IBAN (e.g. starting with "CH"), the recipient's name and address and the payment title. In non-SEPA transfers, the BIC/SWIFT code of the recipient's bank is also required; some banks also ask for the bank address. You will see all required fields in the GLOBALtransfer Transaction Panel when placing orders.

The most common problems with transfers in CHF and quick ways to solve them

Delays usually result from exceeding the cut-off time, transaction verification or the work of intermediary banks. An incorrect IBAN or recipient's name may suspend or reverse the payment. After placing the order, check the status in the panel; If you notice an error, please contact GLOBALtransfer support immediately. To avoid additional costs, send CHF from a foreign currency account and select OUR when the recipient will receive the full amount.

CHF exchange rate and the moment of shipment - when does exchanging funds make sense?

If you ultimately need PLN, consider exchanging it for PLN before shipping to avoid double currency conversion. When you pay in Swiss francs (e.g. an invoice in CHF), ordering directly in this currency allows you to better control the cost. In the panel you can check the current rates and the total cost before confirming - this is a good moment to compare whether it is better to send CHF or exchange funds earlier.
